This past weekend, an ecumenical "pilgrimage of peace" was the first time in Christian history that leaders of the Catholic, Anglican and Reformed traditions conducted a joint foreign visit... this time to South Sudan. Pope Francis made "another appeal for an end to the tribalism, financial wrongdoing and political cronyism at the root of many of the country's problems." “We hope that this visit will highlight the beauty of these people and also their suffering,” Cardinal Tagle said. “And we hope it’s not just the churches, but the international community that will get together.
