Hi I’m Bethany the director of Miremby Tours. It’s been great to find a community that brings together all my passions - thank you @Friends of CRS (my mum) for finding this platform. I am a PhD student currently living in Southeast Madagascar, I’m a primate conservationist looking into the Movement ecology of Collared brown lemurs, using remote sensing to looked at movement to determine cognitive ability. I have an undergrad degree in Wildlife ecology and conservation science (UWE) and a masters in Primate conservation (Oxford Brookes university). I am passionate about conservation, wildlife, photography and responsible travel. As you have seen I have a mother, (and father) who are incredibly passionate about conservation, travel and humanitarian work. These passions over the years have become what I am passionate about. While living in Madagascar I have spent a large chunk of time with the local community, who accepted and cared for me through out the highs and lows of field work. In my spare time, I am documenting the lives of the community through photography, specifically portrait photos. I hope that these photos in someway can convey the hardship and strength these communities have to go through and show in their lives. My photography is what made me develop and create Miremby Tours, a unique tour company that specialises in conservation and customisable travel. Photographing the community made me think travellers should have the ability to understand life within communities. Miremby Tours allows this to happen as we provide the ability for local people to connect with travellers, allowing communities to show their passions and lives, and gain personal connection. We as a company all have a passion for wildlife conservation and humanitarianism. Our directors and guides have a collective 18 years of conservation background and knowledge which allows us to design unique and bespoke travel with a real benefit to local community.
